the voters stepped in and passed proposition 30 and raised taxes which enabled us to do it. it was a confluence of factors that just happened. >> let's break it down in a way that parents can understand. i have two kids in public school and there are a thousand school districts. parents have been dealing with districts and schools that are lean and mean and that is about to change significantly, say? >> yes. the local control funding formula increases money dramatically over an eight-year period. low-income districts like alalmoalum rock will go from 7,000 to 12,000. >> let's bring it up on here. the way it breaks down is it raises the base funding for every student about $537 and districts receive for low-income, english language learners and foster kids an additional 20% of that base. and districts where 55% of students are high needs will receive a concentration grant of 50% of the base. so those districts may receive $3800 more than what they are getting right now? >> yeah, over time and all get an increase in the short range as well. plus we added money to implement a new curric
